ISLAMABAD: People of Chitral have hailed the induction
of Pakistan People's Party MPA from the district in the NWFP
cabinet.
Talking to >>bs<>es<< in Islamabad, PPP leader Sultan Mehmood said
the district had not been given representation in the cabinet after
PPP founding chairman late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto included Qadir Nawaz
from Chitral in the provincial cabinet in the early 1970s.
He said appointment of Salim Khan, elected from PF-89 Chitral-1,
as minister for population welfare would not only end the sense of
deprivation and alienation of the people but would also help the
party regain its lost glory in the valley.
He thanked PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PPP NWFP
president Rahim Dad Khan for taking Mr Salim Khan in the
cabinet.
He said by including a senior worker in the cabinet, the PPP
had once again proved that it was the party of the poor and cared
for the welfare of backward areas as well as its own workers and
supporters.--Dawn
