Mastuj water filtration plant still dry

CHITRAL: A water filtration plant in Mastuj, constructed by the previous government, is yet to be made running although it was completed four years ago.
Residents said that over Rs2 million was spent on the project but still the people were forced to consume contaminated water which caused diseases of different kinds in the area.
When Tehsil Nazim Shahzada Sikandarul Mulk was approached, he said that the water filtration plant needed to be electrified. However, in sharp contrast to the demands of the people, he said that the plant was not required at all in the area.
He said that about Rs4.5 million had been expended by the federal government on three similar projects to provide clean drinking water to the people who consumed contaminated water.
Meanwhile, sources in the district government said that filtration plants were also constructed at Warijun and Jughoor villages which faced the same fate as in Mastuj.--Zahiruddin
